You can’t cheat on camera, you have to be real, and these classes offer a specific emphasis on the subtlety and reality necessary to work effectively on screen. The size of the performance has to be controlled while the emotional reality and drive is elevated so you “pop” off the screen. Cold readings, scenes, monologues and commercials are used as you work on camera during each class. Your work is critiqued so each week you become more comfortable with the camera and seeing yourself on the screen. You’ll learn camera technique, terminology and the etiquette of working “on set”. At the end of the session a students invited audience will view the final scenes in a mini “performance festival”.
All classes are ongoing, with the exception of the Saturday 4-week intensive, which begins September 11, 2010 and ends October 2, 2010. This intensive will then be on hold while we produce our first film in Texas, Last Words, which will begin principle photography in October of 2010. The Saturday Intensives will be available again sometime in January 2011.
